FAQ's
What is a non-incentive barrel horse?
A non-incentive barrel horse refers to a horse not eligible for most, major stallion incentive programs in the barrel horse industry. Stallion incentive programs are designed to encourage participation and reward horses with lineage, training, or breeding tied to certain criteria, often sponsored by stallion owners or associations. Horses not bred from lineages included in these stallion incentives programs can be defined as non-incentive.
How is the incentive funded?
Dark Horse Barrel Incentive provides a program that allows these “non-incentive” horses to run and compete against those eligible for more money at events already occurring in the barrel horse industry. Events will have funds that are driven by nominations of the horse and sponsorships. Nomination funds and sponsorship money and prizes will be pooled and allocated across multiple events throughout the year to compete for.
